Using Win XP Home, Nero 6.x.x, InCd to burn files to CD-RW disc. Have tried to read discs on two different Win98 machines with OEM CD-ROM drives, but they do not recognize that the XP disc is even there. Have tried multiple discs, quick-formatting w/ InCd, total Nero erase, etc. with no luck. The 98 machines read commercial discs with no problems. I think that Nero burns using ISO. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :round:

ISO is just a disc image. All burning programs use it, it's a standard.

You will need to install InCD on the computers you wish to use the burnt CDRW on, or download and install Nero's InCDReader (http://www.nero.com/en/InCD_4_Reader.html), otherwise the disc won't be visible.

Thanks for the info. Installed InCd4 Reader on 98 machine, & made no difference. Have tried burning w/InCd & w/Nero Burning Rom, but 98 machine says "D\: is not accessible. Drive not ready" although it reads commercial programs just fine. Would think that there's got to be something in the way the disc is prepared or written to.

It must be the way you are burning them.

It makes no difference whether it's 98 or XP as CD's use their own file system which is independent of the operating system.

Are you finalising the disc or not burning multisession?

Have tried multi-session & finalized burns-no access.
Have tried using InCd, Nero Burn, Deep Burner, Burn 4 Free,--same result.
Have installed UDF reader & InCd reader in 98 machine--same old.
Am wondering if the Cd-RW media is compatible--I can't seem to find a definitive answer to that.

Can you access the discs contents in Safe Mode?

Have you tried a different brand media?

Appreciate your efforts. Tried Safe Mode, but the 98 machine apparently disables the CD drive in this mode. Have tried Memorex & Sony CD-RW discs with no success. Got to be something I'm missing.
