Hi, I have a ARTEC WRR-4048 CD Burner and it will not read any CD (burnt, audio etc...) I just installed it and I installed it properly, I opened a CD Burner program(s) and have tried to burn numerous of types of CD's but nothing. You see the CD Drive it self will burn CD's however I believe it isn't writing anything at all, the program is just telling it to burn information onto it, that's what I believe. But the facts are I can't read or write anything with this CD Drive.
:madhack:
If anyone has the answers to my problem then please tell me about it, much is appreciated. I'm very good and following step by step instructions :director: if you need to tell me any.
Thanks a lot! :bang:

If you feel its installed ok and everything is configured then try a hardware read test. Disconnect the main cable from the CD-Writer, IDE cable if its internal but make sure the power cable is still connected and it can open/close the CD drawer.
Place an original disc into the drive, either software or audio, and look at the LED's on the front of the drive. Every manufacture is differnet in what these LED's mean but basically if the laser is ok the drive LED should flash for a couple of seconds and then stay lit, if it keeps flashing and its not connected to the PC, except for power, you may have a hardware fault.
