Maybe a bit off topic of CDG but maybe one of the KJ's can advise me on this one.
I've got a pair of JBL eon 15" powered g1's (the grey ones) that have served me well with superb sound but getting on a bit now & was thinking of buying a new pair of 15" G2's which offer nearly twice the wattage.
I've seen a pair of old G1's like mine on EBay,the seller claims they're much better than the new ones for some reason. But.....
The guy in my local disco shop swears the new black G2's are the dogs licky bits & I should get my cheque book out right NOW!
But he would say that wouldn't he coz he want's to flog me well over a grands worth of kit!
So... Has any of you other KJ's had experence with both G1's & G2's?
any advice or help appreciated,

Ask for a demo - preferably alongside your own cabs that you know and love. Always remember that a system can only be as "loud" as the amount of air it moves around - hence bigger speakers, more volume. Some speakers are more efficient at converting electrical energy into speaker movement - again, more volume. But volume ain`t everything. You want clarity and projection. That`s why I say try them - alongside your own, using the same amp and mixer etc.. Only then will you know for sure.
Good luck.

p.s. - Personally I don`t like the Eons, but that`s just down to personal preference. :)

I used to use the grey ones (used a pair for 5 years) .
I bought a pair of active eon g2's to replace the old ones and they are so much better than the older model.
I also have a pair of the active subs (old grey ones).........
There is not much difference (in my opinion) between the active older grey subs and the new active g2 subs - so I got a few tins of plasticote and changed the grey finish to black (to make them look not so out of place).

Although I think the eon g2's are the beez knees you may want to listen to the Mackie active range of speakers - they do tend to have a more even sound quality over a larger distance , have a listen & I'm sure you will get my drift.

By the way - a pair of active eon g2 speakers (15'') can be had for less than a grand , I have seen a brand new pair as cheap as £875.....Bargain.

i had some CCM Europa speakers years ago, at the time they where the dogs dangly bits.
i could not justify paying £800 for next model up CCM Invader.
ended up changing x overs, base cabs, tweeters, only £200. old cabs were sound and in good nick, when i tried them, got H*R* ON.
if happy with old cabs, why change just upgrade.
