okay,
i just got a laptop that has a dvd multi burner in it.. ive downloaded two movies anchorman and hercules, and the burning program that came with my computer lets me burn anchorman but because its an avi file it doesnt get converted over to the proper file where i will be able to see the actual movie when i put it in my own dvd player. i also have nero smart start a program a friend gave me that i downloaded onto my computer which allows me to burn dvds but only in the converted format vob,bup or ifm. where can i get or download a free program to convert avi files into, vob, ifm, bup? and also could someone explain to me the difference between those and which one would be better to convert it into.
ive been trying to figure this out for weeks PLZ help if you can!!!!!!

Downloading movies is a violation of international copyright law and you should be ashamed of yourself! That being said…here’s how to do it! First of all though, you need to realize that in all probability, your DVD will not look as good as you expect it to look as your movie files will probably have to be stretched out to a res of 720 x 480 so you will probably lose video quality. I don’t think that there are any free progs which will convert video files to DVD files…but…you can always DL trials. Lots of them are fully functioning for 2-4 weeks before they expire or until you come up with a better solution. I recommend Ulead. Go to their site and you find lots of write ups of what they have to offer…choose whatever you want...I highly recommend DVD Movie Factory Disk Creator. Just dump your video file into whatever Ulead prog you choose and follow their directions…it’s very easy. Good luck! :)

dvixtodvd is free and so is avi2dvd

vobs, bups are what are contained in a video ts folder

vso's dvixtodvd gives you 1 of these, and also a audio ts folder(of which has nothing in it),so ignor

just load the avi in the app' and click convert, then burn the resulting ts folder with nero
