I think it has something to do with naming the cd incorrectly. It must be exactly the same as the cd you copied, I think. But what if it's too late and you've burned this lovely cd, and now you don't know the name of the original disk (ie, snapped in half...)? Is there a way to discover the original name of the disk from the info that's copied to the copy? Anyone?

It has nothing to do with the name of the CD.

It's the copy protection used to prevent piracy, or in some cases a damaged install engine like DemoShield or InstallShield.

Solution is to buy the game.

Thanks, Insomniac. I suppose that's what I get for trying to copy... What do you suggest for the future? I have 4 kids under 7, 75 different games, and despite all my best efforts, games find themselves under chair legs, sliding across the window sills... I thought I'd best copy them and keep them separately stored in case, but my test one didn't work. So basically, you would say I'm stuck? I hope that's not the case, as of course, that's hundreds of dollars of software that I would not want to particularly rebuy... even one at a time at $34 a pop is hard... Any suggestions? Sorry for the sob story...

Either install them, then use a no CD patch so you don't require the disc in the drive to play and store the original.

Or learn the procedure on copying (it requires a decent burner).

Use a search engine for the patch or info on the burning procedure.

I guess the latter... I can't imagine that all our games would fit... maybe a removable storage? hmmm.... thanks for the replys. Off to tech school!
