Are you using a new brand of media?
If the answer is yes then it's possible that the Pioneer just doesn't recognise it. If this is the case the a new firmware might be available on the Pioneer website.

thank you for the advice the media isn't that new and the strange thing is that I used half the bundle of dvd's without any problems...

try unistalling and do a clean install of the pioneer
blow out the drive with compresses air
if this dont work, you may find the burner is about on its last legs
does it burn cd's?

i just tried to write a cd it wrote with no problems however verification of the files failed. The error message was "failed to mount wirtten cd" plus when you look at the cd it looks like the data is there but neither my dvd burner nor combo drive are abble to read data from it.

what do you mean by "try unistalling and do a clean install of the pioneer" exactly ?

Try a dvd drive cleaning disk, What media are you using? I have had a similar problem with Ritek g05 disks, my last delivery would not verify properly don't know why since the disks I had before them worked fine?

Must be due to variation in quality.

Went back to using g04 disks, burns these perfectly.

Newer dyes may cause problems you could try updating the firmware.

I bought a TDK burner this would not burn the g05 disks until I updated the firmware.
