Hi

I was wondering if anyone could help me with an annoying problem ive been having. Up until recently my pc was fine but about a month ago when using it strange blue vertical bars appear on my screen and the picture breaks up as well!

At first I put it down to just installing direct x 9.0c (which it still may be). I cleaned out my pc today and blew the dust out of my graphics card fan and other system fans. This seemed to work up until tonight when were back to square one again!

Has this happened to anyone on this forum? I’d really appreciate some sound advice?

I can take a screen shot if needed

Windows XP (SP1 updated)
Radeon 9800 Pro Graphics card
K8-Triton GA-K8NS Pro Motherboard
AMD 3000Mhz 64bit processor

Please help!!

Yea, a screenshot might help... What kind of monitor are you running?

It is just a 19" AOC generic monitor. Im aboutt 99% sure that is not the problem though

i'd say its the monitor, test another one and see if it happens to the other one.
I have had several monitors that have had weird effect like you've described.

Herm, odd... Well, have you flashed your 9800P at any time? Have you o/c'd the piss out of it? What kind of cooling do you have on it (the R350/R360 cores got REALLY hot)?

Hi

Ive not touched anything to do with overclocking, something ive never really tried. The fan on the grafix card is the same one that came on it when I purchased it new. Do you think i should get a more powerful fan even though the fan seems to have been ok (even now it seems to be spinning ok)?

Thanks

could just be a loose card, as it cleared it when you opened the case and blew the fans out, take it out and refit it, also try reinstalling the drivers. you dont happen to have a set of speakers to close to the monitor do you ?

Hi I shall try that and let you know the results. I downloaded the latest drivers and tried them a week ago but to no avail.

Ill try refitting the card in the slot.

My speakers by the way have always been in the same place so thats not the problem, thanks guys
