I flashed my GA-K8NS Pro board with a GA-K8NS Bios (F13), from Gigabyte's website. I didn't intend to do this. The system works fine, except for the IDE3 & IDE4 slots not being recognized, I want to get the correct BIOS in so i can use these ports again. The BIOS refuses to accept the file for my board and Q-flash won't work, the correct file is larger than the active BIOS. Thanks for your help

A lot of the Gigabyte boards have dual bios. Can you not recover from the backup bios?

I can't do that because the flash rom is write protected. I tried changing the option in cmos but it is still protected no matter what.

Yea, the backup BIOS is there incase your primary blows out, it can't be unlocked or flashed over for security purposes. I can't remember if Gigabyte used the Phionex AMI or the Award BIOS on this board but anyways, your only viable option is to grab a third party flash utility for your BIOS set. Here's a link to an Award flash utility: http://www.bios-drivers.com/drivers/40/40153.htm to find a Phionex one is a little harder but just google it and you'll come up w/somthin. Happy flashing!
