My computer is running WIN98SE. When I turn on my computer I get an error message "The Batmeter.dll file is linked to missing export SETUPAPI.DLL: SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces", with the only option button of "OK". After I select OK the computer finishes its boot and allows me to work but the volume control is missing from my taskbar and also will not function if I try accessing the sound controls from the record program (it then gives me the same error message). I am experiencing several other problems and wonder if all is connected to the same error issue.

I have located the Batmeter.dll and setupapi.dll files but that only tells me where they are (c:Windows/system).

I have located through MSN & Microsoft sites information I think might fix this problem but I do not understand it or how to go about fixing it. Yes, I am near dumb when it comes to computer problems :hdspin: .

I greatly appreciate any assistance, and will appreciate it even more if it can be made clear to me. Thank You Very Much!

Well the instructions are pretty straight forward although long winded, you couldnt make it and simpler or you would miss a step out.

rename the old files like it says and then extract the replacements from the win 98se disc like it tells you to

Rename the old files (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q232489/)

Extract the new files its about half way down the page (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/129605/EN-US/)
