I am simply trying to copy a media file onto a CD-r. This is the message I get: Disk is not formatted, windows cannot read from this disk. This disk may be corrupted or it could be using a format not compatible with windows. Now, I have tried 3 different brands of cds. And I have no trouble with my cd-rom drive it plays cd's just fine. I don't know how to format cd's aren't they already formatted. I have a laptop, does that matter. My cd-rom is a Toshiba CD-ROM XM-1902B, help!!!!!!!!! :hdspin:

There is no way that you can write to that drive since it is a CD-ROM drive. Do you have a CD burner installed in addition to that drive?

Hello Sherrib,
You must have a CR/RW or burner installed in you laptop. You can easily replace or get an external unit for your purpose. The Burner will usually be accompanied with an appropriate software.
This will enable you to COPY files to a RW Media (CD) after it has been formatted. CD-R media cannot be formatted they are for writing (with a burner) only.
Hope this additiional info will be of some hekp.
