Hi all,
I am looking to build another pc but would like to get some inputs on which would be the faster and most effecient unit. Right now I have an Asus Mobo with AMD 3000, 1.5gb ram. My uncle built his pc using a P4 3.0 HT processor and man does it blaze...compared to mine. He also has a dual 1gb ram. What I would like to know is and this is for those of you who have experienced it. Is a 64bit more faster and efficient than the p4 3.0? All inputs would be very much appreciated. I know most of the specs on both chips just want an honest opinion. Thanks

You can't compare apples to oranges. A 64 bit processor would be more efficient with 64 bit applications. Your uncle's p4 blows your AMD 3000 away? In what context? Do you have the same applications installed? What hardware are each of you running? Why would anybody need 2gb ram for normal desktop use?

I know that Pentium is better for application process (that is versus my 32bit AMD)..... I don't think you understood the question. The question I was asking was not why would a 64bit processor be faster and more efficient? I wanted to get an honest response from people who run these two processor in their units. I know some people choose Pentium over AMD and some AMD over Pentium and maybe because of preference or history for them. However, I would like to know from someone who has ....let's say switched over from one to the other...and why did the switch occur? I've always had AMD... Like I said " I just want an honest opinion"...I know I can find the specs on the net. However, I just want to know from anyone who's been there done that and maybe let's add what was the difference. However, I do appreciate you taking your time to reply to my post.
