Hello All,
I have downloaded 4 files (3 of them with the ".iso" extension) relating to this operating system. I hope some kind person can help with the procedure.
They are....
(1)6.0-beta1-i386-bootonly.iso
(2)6.0-beta1-i386-disc1.iso
(3)6.0-beta1-i386-disc2.iso
(4)Checksum.md5
I would appreciate very much if someone could tell me if the steps I must take are as follows...
(1) I can burn each file on a CD.
(2) If I insert disc1 into the CD Drive it should start the installation.
(3) If installation does not start, what should I do.
Thanks a million.
Sincerely,
Annykim

burn the discs and then post back if the installation CD wont start, try not to get into ifs and buts until the thing has failed to do what you ask.

Hello Nuttapper,
Thanks.
Ought to let you know that since my posting, I used WinRAR (trial version) and the conversion spiralled to 860mb on IS0-1 which was too large to burn.
I will burn the ISO files as is and try them out.
Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Annykim. :round:

Hello All,
Using FDISK to partion a Hard Drive was a success. Whilst trying to format the partions after getting out of FDISK, there was kind of "explosion" from the chasis and a loud whir from the CD Drive.
Frantically, I reached for the wall power switch. After sniffing at the chassis and confident that nothing was on fire, I opened the CDRW Drive with a pin to find tiny pieces of what was the Win98 SE CD. The original CD was in perfect condition (no cracks or scratches) when inserted into the CDRW drive.
I removed the burner and took up the matter with Sumsung who could not provide me with a reasonable explanation. They eventually gave me names, address including Email address. Trying to communicate with them was a trying task. The named person was no more in service. An email sent to the Email address provided bounced. I have abandoned trying further.
I wonder if any of you guys have had this experience.
My question is, is it safe to reinstall and use the burner or should I bin it.
Thanks.
Annykim.

IMHO, just refit it and test it with a copied CD you have nothing to loose except 10p's worth of CDR
