I’ve got a problem with my new Pioneer 109 DVD writer.

Some times it won’t copy a DVD image file in alcohol 120 and Nero.

What happens is when I put a blank DVD in the drive and select the image to burn the writer will then start to spin up, it finds that the media can burn at x12 (Ritek x8 discs). Then it spins up and down for about 2 min, and then just constantly spins, the only way I can stop it is by turning the pc off. (there is a small bit burnt on the DVD).

The media I am using is Ritek G05 x8 discs.
I’ve tried the discs in another Pioneer 109 and all seems ok.
I’ve updated the firmware of the drive and put the latest version of Alcohol on (No change there)

This seems to happen more if I put a blank disc in the drive before I start my burning software. If I select the image then put the blank disk in it sometimes burns ok.
Starts at x6, them moves up to x8 and finally x12 about 2/3 into the disk.

I’ve already sent one pioneer back for a similar problem, this one has been running well for a week but now its started playing up as well, So I’m not sure if it may be a problem my end.

Any recommendations?

A bit of an update to my problem.

I've started a new spindle of Ritek disks, and have copied 20 discs with no problems, so it could be a bad batch of discs.

Will keep you posted on my problem
