Jta553 Aug 17, 2005, 03:23 AM Oh Come on you guys...
kof2000 Aug 17, 2005, 03:27 AM buy OEM drives they are way cheaper. you can get a 250gb for 120.
Insomniac Aug 18, 2005, 10:26 PM Maxtor have some very fast and quiet drives currently.
The ones with 16 MB cache and NCQ (Native Command Queing) are very good and are highly recommended.
I think they are called DiamondMax 10, and they win most of the PC reviews including PC Authority and PC User.
As far as where to buy, if you're in Melbourne or close to it, then try CPL (Computers & Parts Land).
They are at 130 Dudley Street, West Melbourne PH: (03) 9223-4288, or Unit 4, 26-30 Howleys Road, Notting Hill PH: (03) 542-8688.
HERE (http://www.cpl.net.au/) is their website.
SCORPION TECHNOLOGY (http://www.scorptec.com.au/) are also competitive, but the best thing to do is check at the comprehensive listings at OVERCLOCKERS (http://www.overclockers.com.au/vendors/).
Jta553 Aug 19, 2005, 03:56 AM Thanks for the Tips, Boys.
I currently have a Maxtor in my Pc, a 120GB.
My XBOX features my Stock 40GB ripped from my PC.
The master plan was to chuck the 300gigger in the PC, and generously offer the 120gb to the XBOX, if it was willing to accept it. The 40gigger would then be invited by the 300gb to return to the PC, bringing along the old 8Gb sitting on my shelf from the XBOX. See, its all so simple.
I shall be ringing around my Local shops tomorrow, and getting a quote on their prices...Mmm, if its lower than Centrecom, im there.
Regards,
Jack
Jta553 Aug 20, 2005, 02:21 AM Hmm, phoned up a shop, they're willing to sell me a 160Gb for a Dollar a Gig, so i'm thinking, yeah, chuck it in the xbox.
But then i think, hey, the 300gb at Centrecom was $218, or $227 to my Postoffice Box..
Though im strapped for cash at the moment, and just happen to have $160...
hmm.
this is starting to become a Blog.
