Im going through the same problem as we speak, I've read and downloaded Ltool yesterday and Im going to try it out today and I will let you know. According to my reading this will put the dashboard on the the hd so you can boot to the the xbox dvd and then add slayers or auto installer. Any questions let me know and we can solve this together.

hello doug

who done the softmod for you as the first rule of softmodding is to backup the eeprom. whoever done it may still have hd password that you require for installing a new hd?

ltools is only going to give you the tools for making a hd maker disk that is of no use without the present hd password as this is unique to your xbox motherboard

I've tried all those programs, Itools, Linux disk, slayer and auto installer and I cant seem to get them to work. I've even tried the swap method or some version of it. When I did the swap method, I was able to format a hd but when I put it in the other xbox I still got some form of an error!! I dont know what to do and I'm really frustrated because I know I'm not the first person with the problem but no one seems to want to help!!! :yell: I've even got a chipped xbox and I still cant get it to work. Where is a step by step tutorial on this, come on guys and girls help us out!!!

I dont have a chip like that. I was going to take my chip out and do a full install on the other box but I'm afraid to do this because the box wont boot unless the chip is on which will defeat the purpose. I will go through the hassle of installing the chip in the other box if I can get my other box to work without the chip. I've got another post up about the M$dash, I think that is the problem but no respone, could you help me?!!

Finally I got it to work!!! I had to use the slayers disk to get the orignal dash to install and presto I was good. Then I was able to repair 2 more of my xboxes by taking the chip and installing it into them. Harder work since I had to install them into each box. Oh well no pain, no gain!!

actually, all they need is a hard copy of their xboxes original C:/ and they can recreate a hd as long as it is lockable using xboxhd maker. not real easy, but neither are most of the solderless alternatives.
