Only got my Xbox 360 yesterday, so I havent spent an eternity on trying to get it connected to Xbox Live, but I did give it a good go, and no joy!

My pc, running WinXPpro gets an Internet connection through my wireless router, and I have a crossover cable connecting my LAN card on my pc and the Xbox.

I can get the Xbox to see the pc, but it fails on the DNS settings. I have tried setting the DNS as automatic, the ip of the router, the ip of my pc, and the DNS of my ISP, but still no joy.

The Xbox Media setup is fine, its just Xbox Live. I know that I can buy an adapter, but Ive spent enough money on all this 360 stuff as it is, so I'm trying to do this on the cheap.

Is it definately possible to do what I'm trying to do? I dont really wanna have to run a cable downstairs!

Set Both the Router and the Xbox to Automatic DNS Settings.

at first i thought about this, then i realized u said crossover cable. if you read the instruction booklet on your 360, a crossover is no longer needed. i also use ICS to connect to xboxlive, and in use a stand patch cable, so just go ahead and use a regular ethernet cable, and see if that solves your problem. hope this helps
