The last time I was here pretty much was back in 1999 and was discussing ways to backup DVD to VCD hehe

(remember, back then there was no "Dvd ripper" programs or DVDR drives. And DivX was some crap DVD format develope by Circuit City that was a failure ). I was recommending Video capture hardware method to people.

anyway good to see that this forum is still alive and hope the mods are doing well (not that I've ever spoken to them back then)

I'm back now to ask a few quesitons concerning modding my ps2. I"m a complete noob at this so sorry if I ask stupid questions.

I got a PS2 from 2002 (model: SCHP-39001 serial: FU2024480). I would like to know what is the best mod chip for the system. I'm mainly interested in playing backup ps2 and backup psx games. not so much watching dvd on it.

where can I get it? is it hard to install it myself?

and what about the game shark thing I heard of? how well does it work? I don't want to be swaping discs just to get my ps2 games to work. seems like a pain in the ***.

thanks in advance and hope everyone is well. can't wait to play my backups of final fantasy VII and Ridge Racer Type4 (my psx crapped out a few years ago)

ohh Im in the USA and my system is nstc.
(I perfer USD and paypal type business)

You have quite a host of options out there. Just about all the new generation chips will do the job: DMS4, Ghost2, Matrix Infinity, Crystal 1.1 Lite just to name a few. Your best bet would be to take a look at the main chip manufacturers sites choose which one suits you then use the chips forum to ask for an installer, supplier in your area.
