This is my first post, so please bear with me. When attempting to burn a CD or DVD, the device freezes up, and I have to reboot the system to close out of Nero (7.x). I have a Creative Labs 5233E set up as a master, and a Sony DW-Q28A/10S DVD burner set up as the slave. This happens when the source is the CD drive, and the destination is the DVD drive. I ran the diagnostic tool from Sony, and all went well. I tried removing/reinstalling Nero - but the problem persists. The OS is Win2K SP4.

Can these two devices play together?

The first few versions of Nero were really flaky so it could be the software and not a hardware issue. You might try installing the latest version of Nero to see if that fixes the problem.

If that doesn't work, go to http://www.silentnight2004.com/microburner.html and download the Micro Burner program. This is a great peice of software for testing because it is basicaly is a stand alone application meaning it doesn't need to install anything to run. This way you can test your burner without possibly corrupting the OS further by installing software.
