Im thinking about rigging my ps2 so I can play copied games but am confused with all the options.
Would someone mind explaining my options please.
I gather you cant play copied games normally because you cant copy a boot file on the original games.
Can you get one of those cheat discs and use that to boot up the ps2? Or do you still need a chip?
There are chip that need soldering, chips that dont... etc
Can someone help?!
Many Thanks

Sure. With the fat version you have 2 options 1/ use swapmagic discs and a slide tool, 2/ use swapmagic discs and a fliptop lid.
First: Swapmagic, this is a disc which you will need to buy if you dont want a chip in order to play your backed up games- dvd disc for dvd games and cd disc for cd games. Now you could use swapmagic with the slide tool if you like but I would suggest you get a flip lid, Why? because a slide tool requires you to remove / alter your drawer on the ps2 and 'though people do manage this task it can cause problems to the novice, but ask around. If you use the flip lid it is a lot less hassle - just lift the lid pop in the swapmagic disc wait 'till it says "load program" and put in the backed up game. Simple.
My son has been using swapmagic for the last year with no prob's and he is only 7 so its that easy. I think I mentioned before the cost for both discs and lid would be around £25.00, once you have paid for them your only cost would be discs ...around 10p each. Fitting the lid is quite easy- you take off your lid and put on the new one, just be carefull to watch for the ribbon.
I'll check your post later. Ps...just add to this post, dont start a new thread every time it just cloggs it all up. Cheers.[/QUOTE]...this a quote from a question i answered earlier.....if you need any more info post on PS2 forum and i will see if i can help. Oh1 I havn't mentioned chips here , but they are an option.

You are best with a descent modchip, that way you only have to put in the game and it works. Most others involve disc swapping etc which can be a pain. I also would avoid the no solder mods as they can be unreliable.
There are a few modders on the forum here including myself, who would be able to modd your ps2 for you, for a fee of course, but it is worth it in the end. I wouldn't recommend you d it yourself though. :)
