atapi cdrw5205 wont read any discs/ it APPREARS to be working fine, ive checked conflicts, ive uninstalled and reinstalled, ive updated drivers, and a few other options ive read about thru here...... os is now xp... was 98 but didnt read before i changed... just kept putting it off..... i use nero... i havent uninstalled that yet... just didnt seem like a software issue... checked system (hardware) internally everything (dusty) but looks good to go.... would appreciate some ideas.... i have tons of pictures ive been putting on and need to get burned to get off the system..... tks..... Simplest method is to put the drive in another PC. If it still doesn`t read, then it`s duff. If it does work, the problem is somewhere in your PC.
