I am in Canada and all DVD -RW or +RW (maxell, Fuji, Sony, etc)are made in Taiwan. I had bad previous experience with CD-R made in Taiwan, data seem to be lost or loosing on those discs after a few years. No problems with CD-R made in Japan (Fuji). Do anyone , particularly in Canada have this type of problem with DVD-RW or +RW discs??
My data is very important, I can't afford to have data lost within a few years? Any other recommendations?

Thanks.

All of my re-writable DVD's are Fuji DVD-RW's ( I have no idea where they are made ) and I've never had any problems with them. For regular DVD's, I highly recommend Imation. They are very cheap ( more than no names but cheaper than Sony, Fuji, Maxell, etc. ), use dark purple dye and very dependable. I hope this helps.

Hi:

Thank you for your response. Where can I get this Imation disc, do you know where it is made?

On Fuji DVD-RW's package, mine says "made in Taiwan". Not that I care about which country it is made, but longevity of data. I know Fuji CD-R , made in Japan discs are actually made by Taiyo Yuden which is famous for reliable disc with superb data archival life.

So you have no problems with your DVDs (especially movie ones) with age of several years ?

I recommend Verbatim and TDK (these ones more expensive), doesn't matter the manufacturer. They are not formidable but useful and have a normal life expectancy. No DVD crap for me many years.
