This is somewhat of an old CDRW drive but I've tried everything can I cannot get it to work correctly. It reads normal CDS fine but when it comes to recording it just won't do it anymore. I have tried every program possible, winxp, Nero, DiscJuggler, Alcohol, etc..
The problem is that when it comes time to insert the blank cd it will not recognize it. It gives me the message 'insert blank media'. It worked a couple of times..maybe 20% of the time but lately not even 20%.

I tried flashing it to the latest firmware. I tried uninstalling it and letting windows install it again. I also tried updating the windows ASPI driver but to no avail. Any Ideas? I've also tried recording with different brand CDRS.

Try cleaning the lens.

If it's XP, it may also have a corrupt Registry. Try the following (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/EN-US/)

I had the same problems and did just like you did. I finally came to the conclusion that it was a goner and just purchase a new burner from newegg.com. The Liteon combo burner. works great!!!:luxhello:
