I recently purchased DVD-R disks from Tesco to back-up photos from my hard-drive.
When I insert the blank disks into the drive, I get a message telling me that they are either full (not possible!) or are not writeable.

I own a Acer Aspire 1690 and the drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-K05RA, using a Microsoft driver, version 5.1.2600.2180.

Is this me being thick?!

Thanks!

these discs are poor media, go to your local comp' repair/supply shop and buy decent media, the price will be around £6.00 for 25 discs....you could back up your photo's to a cdrw.

But surely even Tesco aren't allowed to sell you disks that don't actually work?! I have 20 and none of them work! (Do these disks deteriorate with time? I did buy them some 6 months ago.)

Surely though, it can't be a problem with the disks - is it possibly something I'm doing wrong or some hardware problem?
