hi looking to buy a new computer just wondered which is the best processor to go for been looking at a few acer comp but all have diffrent processers either p4 or celron etc
any info would help

Probably a bit too late to help, but anyway,

It depends on what you're using the PC for.

The Celeron (and AMD's Sempron) are budget chips, suitable for basic use.

If you're into video editing and gaming etc, or you're a power user, then go for a Pentium or Athlon, which are more powerful.


AMD have cut prices on their range recently, but if you're a gamer, and/or don't mind waiting a few months, Intel have the Core2 Duo which should be widely available soon, and is easily the fastest chip available to date.
