My new LG DVD-ROM has not read DVDs since I purchased it. It can rea and CDs. But I have been transferred and LG service center is difficult to locate and get to.
but I have tried the following methods without success:
reinstalling DVD-drivers
uninstalling nero and InCD (discussions on other forums)

Can you tell me what does laser look like and how to locate the laser in the DVD-ROM so that I can clean it.

If it's only new, then taking it apart to clean it will not only void your warranty, but create more harm than good.

You can buy cleaning kits anyway, which look like a DVD, with brushes built-in, so there's no need to pull it apart or know what the laser looks like.

What does Device Manager say? (What's the operating system BTW?)

Are the drives displayed correctly, both in Device Manager, and My Computer?
