slime58 Jul 22, 2007, 06:33 PM Hi everyone,
thanks for your time.
I have just put some holiday photo's onto a CD-RW but can't view them on my Toshiba SD-220EB DVD player (multi-regional ). I also have some photo's on a CD-R which I can't view! I just recorded some music onto a new CD-RW which also won't play on my Toshiba!! I just get the message 'Disc Error'.
I CAN play other CD-R's that have music on, that someone else recorded for me a while back.
The photo's can, however, be viewed on my son's £20 Sainsbury's special, a LODOS.
What's going on? Why is nothing straight forward?
If anyone can help I would be very grateful,
Slime.
P.S. I hope this is the right forum for this thread.

Cheers chandler68,
I am using XP Home (genuine copy).
I am burning with WMP 11.
I have just started burning discs.
I used Philips CD-RW discs in my LG GSA-H55N 20x CD/DVD re-writer & tried to play back on my Toshiba SD-220EB DVD player. My Toshiba is a player only, it is not a recorder. Does this matter?
Many, many thanks for your help,
Slime.
Insomniac Jul 23, 2007, 07:16 PM Does your Toshiba support CDRW's? (Not CDR's, but CDRW's) Not all players do.
chandler68 Jul 24, 2007, 07:44 PM Compatible Writable Media CD-R
CD-RW
DVD+R
DVD-RAM
DVD-RW
DVD+RW
DVD-R
DVD+R DL
DVD-R DL
As you can see it only supports the CD-RW discs so check that it is this type you have and not the CD+RW discs.
I would try another prog to burn with such as Nero, and make shure the disc is finalised.

alvinr88 Jul 25, 2007, 06:20 PM i copied some clips from a dvd recorder home moves and burned them to dvd useing WMP 11 did a fine job will play back on the computer but not on the dvd player on the tv what it is is the disk was not finalised it was still open to add more info but wether its full or not till its finalised it will not play in anything except a dvd burner. hope this helps!
Insomniac Jul 25, 2007, 06:51 PM till its finalised it will not play in anything except a dvd burner.
Unfinalised discs won't play on DVD burners as you suggest.
You can't view the contents until it's finalised, or you install additional tools.
Anyway, I doubt it's because they aren't finalised.
His son's system can view the files, as he states.

Hi mate,
tried some CD-R discs, no good, bugger.
Two things though,
1. Have decided my Toshiba can't read .jpeg files, beaten on that one then.
2.All playable music files are .cda files. I've been recording .wma files.
Please can you tell me how to convert .wma to .cda & what utility I may have to use.
Again, many thanks,
Slime.
chandler68 Jul 27, 2007, 09:50 PM I usually use dbpower amp but there are many that will convert, nero and roxio easy cd/dvd have converters in them so try those.
I usually stick to mp3 files less problems burning them.

slime58 Jul 28, 2007, 11:57 AM Hi guys,
is there a way of configuring WMP 11 to burn in .cda format?
Thanks again,
Slime.
chandler68 Jul 28, 2007, 11:43 PM If you burn as an Audio disc it burns them as cda files.
But personaly i would use Nero or Roxio easy cd creator to burn audio discs.

Insomniac Jul 29, 2007, 05:58 PM is there a way of configuring WMP 11 to burn in .cda format?
Windows Media Player only supports WMA, Wav, or MP3.
You'll have to use another program. WMP isn't the best program to burn discs with anyway.
slime58 Jul 30, 2007, 02:11 PM Hi all.
Problem solved.
I finally realised that I must have had a faulty download of WMP 11 because I had no options under the Burn tab which meant I could not choose between Audio CD or Data CD.
I re-installed WMP and Bingo!! I had a choice & can now burn CD's without any problems.
Happy boy!!!
Before I go I just want to thank everybody who has tried to help me.
It's refreshing to know that some people out there actually DO care.
Thank you,
Slime58.
chandler68 Jul 30, 2007, 09:40 PM No probs slime58, glad to help as is my friend insomniac, glad to know that you have solved the problem, well done.
