I got a new case a few days ago. I put all my old stuff in my new case and got everything set up. Everything worked fine. So! Today I went to play a game and nothing. I opened "my computer" and neither my cd nor dvd drive show up. I went to my device manager and nothing there either. I checked all the cables and everything is hooked up right. It will open and close but when a disk is in it doesn’t read the disk or show anything on my computer. Any ideas?

Are the drives detected in the Bios?
How are they physically installed? EG I have two drives, a Master and a slave on the Secondary Controller etc.

I have two drives, a Master and a Slave on the Secondary Controller. Both are hooked up the same way they always have been. I also switched the cable with an extra master/slave cable I had and still nothing. As far as them being detected in the Bios it looks like this:

How are the drives physically connected though?
How many drives do you have, which controller are they connected to, and are they in the correct Master/Slave heirachy etc?
Once I know that, I can compare it to the Bios setup that you posted to see if the problem is with Windows or elsewhere.

Don't worry about it, we've all done it.
Glad it's sorted now. :)
