Hello, I have a 2005 windows xp compaq presario. I have a lgihtscribe cd writer. I have been trying to burn cd's on this computer ever since we got 3 years ago and i have failed miserably. I have tryed using Itunes, Windows media player, built in cd burner, media center, sansa digital media converter, real player and all of these programes have not worked. It goes and burns for about 10 seconds then comes up with an error. im not really that smart when it comes to computers so i really haven't the foggiest as of to what's going on. can someone please shed some light on this situation?

maybe the burner is faulty get another one fitted you can now buy them for around 15 pounds :)

The best thing would be to test the drive in another computer.

If it's OK there try deleting ALL burning software, delete the drive in Device Manager and rebooting, then install Nero, at least it will give you a fault report of the problem.
