Unable to copy commercial cd-rom using either Nero or Roxio.
Source drive is Sony CDU4011 cd-rom.
Destination drive is Mad Dog 16xdvd9a4 burner. Recording speed is 8x, buffer is activated, hard drive cache is enabled, DMA is enabled on controller. Mad Dog firmware has been flashed to most recent version. Recording media is 3- year-old Smart & Friendly CD Rocket Fuel 80 certified for 8x.
Test session works fine. However, the actual copy process using either Nero or Roxio fails and returns the following message re the Mad Dog drive: Power calibration error -- Medium error 03/73/03.
Regret no logs available.
Owing to personal slackness, I failed to register Mad Dog when purchased two years ago, threw away the box, and therefore can not obtain bar code from box which is prerequisite for a registration number.
Request advice: Is problem most likely (a) bad media, (b) protected tracks/data or (c) known problem with Mad Dog. (I already know that user error figures in this Big Time.)
