I have a pc using xp and 512 mem....hoping to up memory to 1gb.....soon. My cd rom died...BENQ came with Gateway. What should I buy? I want a dvd rom.........and also a burner. I currently have an old Samsung cd burner. I want to, also, buy a DVD burner. What should I buy? I have been on newegg.com, but there is soooo much info I don't know where to start to compare. Also, what software for burner cd/dvd's?
Thanks

The best type to go for are DVD/RW drives, and stick to the better known brand names.

As for software i use Nero, Roxio 9, CloneDVD, i find they do all i want.

Pioneer are very good. I didn't suggest a model as I don't know the colour you want, or if you need SATA or IDE.

You also have to decide if you want OEM or not.

OEM is cheaper, but doesn't come with any software or paperwork, to save costs.
