For a few months now, my Dell Inspiron's CD-RW/DVD-ROM has been disappearing after I instert a cd/dvd into it. I can reboot the computer with that cd/dvd in the drive already, and it works no problem. However, if I remove that one and replace it with another, the drive disappears again. I have done a complete format and fresh install of my Windows XP Profession, but the problem remains. I have had this laptop for about three years and it has just started doing this.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance for your time :O)

NoGenocide you need to have the drive tested, as it could be faulty.

farro open your own thread instead of posting in someone elses, and if you think ppl are going to e-mail you from here because you cant be bothered to check back here, think again.
