hi, ive got a dell gx280 and ive recently formated,ive pluged the ethernet cable in and tried to get a conection and theres nothing there,ive also gone in 2 control panel ,system then on to device manager and there is a question mark on the ethernet heading ,ive tried rolling back driver and uninstall but still nothing has chancged, ive also gone on to the dell website for drivers and looked through the model and im not sure exactly what it is i need from there ,i did download one and install it from the communications heading then download conexant driver which applied to 56k v.9x dfvc modem but still no change ,has any1 got any ideas at all ???????

If this is the built in ethernet the drivers for it should have been installed with the operating system.

It may be worth doing a fresh install as it could have been a faulty install.

just reformated ,having the same problem,also theres audio controller and video controller drives missin

Is the XP install on a hiden drive on the HDD or on a disc.

If on disc make sure its not dirty or scratched in any way.

If its on a seperate partition on the HDD, all drivers and operating system should be installed in one go for your system (this applies to an install disc also), so if it wont install correctly it will need checking to see if its faulty in any way.

With it being a dell unit all drivers should be installed with the operating system in one go.

So either the disc is faulty or there is a prob with the comp itself.

So both need checking out.

Try to reformate, Or check the disc.
