Birdy1 Feb 17, 2002, 12:03 PM Obviously this is possible as a datadisk but how the hell do I get my standalone to recognise them on a DVDR?? - My Dansai 852 plays MP3 s from CDR but gives me `disc error' if I try to load a DVDR full of MP3s - Any ideas? - Tried Nero, VOB, Prassi, and Gearpro - All give the same effect so its obviously something I'm doing wrong
ps2dvdr Feb 18, 2002, 12:36 AM Im not sure if its possible? Has anyone got it to work?
LYNDSAY Feb 19, 2002, 07:45 AM I have the same setup mate...from what I can gather the Dansai sees the MP3 dvdr and does not see it as a movie ...hence it wouldnt play...I know you arnt doing anything wrong...it just wont play MP3 dvdr
NOKIANEEDS Feb 19, 2002, 11:32 AM might have a solution for you guys, im testing it 2nite.
Ive got dvdr disks without the encoding the player looks for that tells it is a dvd if that makes sense
gambit_360 Feb 19, 2002, 11:38 AM As far as I know, this will not work.
When a DVD player detects a DVD disc, it will automatically assume it to be a DVD movie. Likewise, when the player detects a CD, it will automatically assume it to be a VCD, or audio CD, etc.
This is mainly the case why you cannot copy a short DVD quality movie onto a CD and play it from a DVD player.
NOKIANEEDS Feb 19, 2002, 11:51 AM the reason the players wont play the mp3 from the dvd is because encoding on the disk tells the player its a movie and thus it looks for the vob files etc.
without this encoding it should pick it up as a data disc and play the mp3.
sounds right in thoery eh lol
will try 2nite and let you know
Birdy1 Feb 20, 2002, 07:59 AM Nokianeeds - If you have any success you'll be my hero - LOL - Might even buy some of those new PS2 compatible cheap DVDRs (fingers crossed)
Cheers bud - let us know either way what happens!!

t_tubbies Feb 20, 2002, 09:02 AM MP3's burnt to a DVD-RW play no probs on my Cyberhome M512
Birdy1 Feb 20, 2002, 03:15 PM ok m8 - but how did you burn them - ie what Program / Settings etc?
t_tubbies Feb 20, 2002, 03:33 PM Nothing special, used PrimoDVD, Data disk and dragged the files over.
celtic_druid Feb 20, 2002, 06:46 PM From what I understand some players fully support mp3 DVDr's others don't and some do, but have a total file size limit.
LibraTiger Feb 21, 2002, 05:52 AM you just need the right software that supports mp3's compressed onto dvd disc. there must be free software out there that can read mp3's on dvd's.
Birdy1 Feb 21, 2002, 07:52 AM Yeah - I was told the Dansai 852 supports MP3 s on DVDR - I think Geobon has also played them successfully through a Dansai

The Dansia does not support or play DVDr MP3 files......I have tried this on numerous blank dvds.....it simply does not work:tdown:
What it does support is cdr mp3s which play perfectally
