Plextor 24/10/40A Wont Burn cds!!

I have set the IDE setting to slave as this was the setting
on my old writer. The Plextor writer does not do anything now, except open/close & have a flashing green light which flashes all the time.

When I ask the drive to read/write a cd, the drive will open but it won't close with the cd in it. If it does close nothing will happen and the cd will not eject untill the computer has been restarted.

I have also noticed there is an unknown device in the device manager. This only appered after the plextor was instaled.

I cant copy cds.
Please help!!


The firmware is v1.03 which I belive to be the latest.

After updating nearly every drive on my computer I then realised it was time to phone Plextor. The Support Engineer at the other end confirmed my worst expectations............ the drive was (DOA) Dead on arrival.

I now have to send the drive to Plextor in Belgium to get it repaired/replaced.

What a bummer I only had it for a day! :mad:

P.s I thought that Plextor were well known for there reliability and good parts, it seems that I have been mistaken.

Now to make matters even worse i have seen the Liteon 32x for the same price I paid for my 24x!
