:mad: Hi can somebody please help me sort this problem out what it is that i got a cd writer today so that means i've now got 2 cd drives installed in the pc but when i power the pc up it doesn't detect the new drive or my previous cd rom i've heard that you have to do something with the jumpers but i dont know what these are has it is my first time trying to uprade and the cd writer didn't have a manual so does anybody know how to fix the problem or do you know any websites with step by step guides to install a 2nd cd drive

Your pc has a BIOS. The BIOS can have 4 IDE devices attached to it.
Primary MASTER
Secondary MASTER
Primary SLAVE
Secondary SLAVE
The problem is that you probably have your hard drive and your 2 CD drives set as MASTER. You need to change the jumper on one of the CD-ROM drives.
The jumper in question is at the back. You need to move it. There are 3 places it can go, move it to a different place and reattach it.

yes..put your hdd as master+your cd-rom as slave on your 1st primary
ide..then put your cdrw on your 2nd ide as master..at the back of your cdrw
it should show u were to set it..cheers
