I am having problems with burning(writing) blank cd-r's.i get a medium speed error and burn process failed when im using nero which came with my 20x10x40 artec cd-rewriter.why is that???what can i do to stop it???help!!!!!

I having the same problem. My O/S is windows xp-pro and i have installed new nero burner 5.5.7.2 and new CD-RW firware 1.3 and still the same problem. I been working on this problem for 6 hours my IDE set up is Primary: Master system hard drive slave back up HD
Secondary: IDE master DVD-Drive Slave CD-RW RW201040

i get the same thing but only when i burn at 10x, it burns fine at any other speed so i just use 12x or 8x instead.

I Have done all what you say the one which works is copy and paste winaspi32.dll in to the nero burner folder from ftp://ftp.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll. I helpful website I found was http://www.bmagics.com/html/aspi.html, I have sorted out my nero burner problem but I can not load in Jet audio or power dvd as they need aspi intalled. I have tried forceaspi but it just loads 2 files in xp and also aspi.exe file and that gives me a error upgrading. The new 4.7 aspi drivers for adaptec only loads 2 files in and the checker say files are missing but the readme file say Ok but a ref. from http://www.bmagics.com/html/aspi.html
Says

are the files to be loaded but I checked the folders in xp and xp have just system 32 folder no system folder I have system32 and system.bak folder installed. What is going on what files are needed in xp some say 2 some say 4 but the aspichecker says that files are missing (HELP)

Yes I did try this but still no joy with Powerdvd or Jet audio,
but i have had joy with jet audio as I am running a double booted system windows 98se and windows xp pro on the same computer and on my laptop I have windows me so i have 3 O/S to test , I am only having trouble with xp. what I did was to link a short cut from my c drive which is windows 98se to my deskyop in xp for the jetaudio and it works using the files in windows 98se. On my wondows me I have nero installed but not the newest version I have no problems with it so I donot mess with things what works only if needed.

So in summary

Nero works in

windows 98se
windows me
and now windows xp pro but causes other programs to stop working e.g PowerDVD and JetAudio at the moment

Greets :) Guys, eagle_birduk Did you go throught Info that as in the 1st reply I made? If so was everthing ok? It could be the media but I've burn a couple 100 silver top (unbranded) disk and never had any problems with them...I'm not saying there top quality but in the 2 or 3 years that I've been burning I can honestly say that I've had 1 coaster because of bad media..... I'm not saying that I haven't had a few coasters but most was my fault for trying to do to much while burning ( aww the good old days of burning BEFORE BURNPROOF) I've heard of some burners MEDIA picky but have never had 1 yet (got my fingers crossed) !! So heres a couple?'s for You!! try turning the write speed Down say 4x or 8x Try burning at a slower speed see will make a complete burn! keeping an eye on the buffer .. is burnproof kicking in? Better yet is BurnProof enabled in Nero is the box checked? You could be making coaster because of BUFFER UNDERRUN instead of bad media.......post back some results and we'll see if we can't get this sorted!!


mason2259 Sorry not much help with XP I've seen on a few other puters here and there ( tinkered with it a bit ) but pretty much shying away from it myself! I'm sure that it's the ASPI that killing other programs you wanting to use....... maybe someone else here can work you through this ....

ok a few days ago my silver blank cd-r were burning completely.but started getting the problem again.i have overburning feature checked within nero.i have buffer underrun activated.and i tried burning at 8x but still no good.i have put the wnaspi32.dll file in my nero folder.should i take off buffer underrun feature???but i thought this is good help.please help me

ok i unchecked the buffer underrun protection feature still getting the medium speed error,burn process failed.my artec cd-rewriter was brand new and installed from a shop.please help me as im wanting to sell cd's later.

Try dropping the over burn feature and see what happens.
