Hi,

my system specs are :

Abit KT7A (KT133a) mb
AMD Athlon T-Bird 1Ghz
256mb ram
win XP/98
NO 4in1 installed
Ricoh 7163a 16x32x10x cdrw drive - set as secondary master
WD 30gb HDD - set as primary master
48x BCD cd-rom - set as primary slave
NOTHING on secondary slave

DMA is enabled

what is/isn't working :

nero 5.5.7.2 working
cdrwin 3.8e NOT working

problem :

I installed Xp and 98, everything was okay, i.e. Office 2000, ZoneAlarm, Norton AntiVirus, home LAN, Nero, all co-existed

I was able to copy audio cd's (5 of them, all different titles), 2 data cd's (both different).

Now, after changing the network properties (as I took off the system from the LAN as it's going to be a standalone PC) no burning works...

What i've done to try to fix it:

- I've downloaded ForceASPI and the other APSI.zip file
- I've run killaspi, and instaspi, and that hasn't fixed it
- I've run aspi.bat and pressed enter twice, then run aspi32.exe and selected upgrade, that hasn't worked.

The SPECIFIC error Nero gives is :

Medium Speed Error
Burn process failed at 4x (or 8x, 12x, 16x, no matter what speed i try, with Justlink on and off, justspeed on and off)

----

The thing is, it WAS working, what can i do about it....?

And one last thing, it's a fresh install, i had just reformatted and re-installed and everything was working and now it's not, I don't mind not having CDRWIN right now...but if i can get that fixed too I'd be dandy...

if anyone can help, please help! thanx.

If you need even more details please let me know, though i think i've given just about every piece of detail i can think of right now....

Well not sure what's p with Nero, try uninstalling & reinstalling, disable the default XP burnware maybe, but it shouldn't matter.
For CDRWin see this post

Thanks Hoss, but :

- uninstalling Nero, restarting XP, then reinstalling Nero, Medium Speed Error STILL comes up
- default XP burnware is already disabled, problem still arises
- switched to "standard PCI dual channel" driver and still the problem

- copied Nero's wnaspi32.dll file to c:\cdrwin and cdrwin still rejects every cuesheet, valid or not valid, loading tracks doesn't happen either...

what's worse than that? :
is that win98 does the same things!!!!

all the problems i've described in XP also applies to win98.....
nero gives medium speed error, cdrwin gives Start DAO recording failed (or whatever its error says)

any other ideas???
