Info for all those having problems with ps2 not displaying picture or producing sound

Hi all - little bit of info for people having probs with ps2 not displaying picture or sound - I got a neo 4 installed the other day and all was fine until i screwed the whole ps2 together again. Anyway after 1/2 hour of trying to work out why it wasn't displaying picture/sound i found that it was a single screw holding the case together. My m8s ps2 had a neo 2.2 chip in it and worked for a while and then didn't display any picture or sound. He took chip out and it still didn't work until he took this one screw out.

The screw i talking bout is the middle screw nearest the front (v4 and v5 cases) dunno why it does it but when i took this out of mine and my friends they both worked:confused:!! :blockhd:. I suggest that anyone with this problem i've described try taking out this screw it seems to work.

I'd like to point out that both mine and my friends ps2s were both v4 boards and pal

try it, it may work

Thanks for the info. I have a V2, too bad I didn't have this info before I sent mine in for repairs, wish I could of tried powering it up without all the casing screws.

Anyhow, hope mine is not that simple to fix, since I already sent it out :P

Can anyone else with the same problem confirm this fix? I am assuming it may be a ground problem or the case screw pinching something?? Dunno.

Thanks

Jaymus

** Are you talking about the 8 casing screws or other screws that are on the motherboard??? ***

Yes this is true, but I've only seen it on the V4 boards myself. All of them had NEO4s in. It was axtually the screw that had pinched one of the wires going to the E-Prom (BIOS)

hi, i have the problem of the no video/audio output. mine is a V3 Pal PS2.
I have tested mine, with no case on, still have the same problem. :(

don't think this is the problem with mine, I wish it was !!!

are there any other theories or suggestions for the black screen of death !

the ps2 seams to function correcty otherwise.

Thanks
