Got a burner a yamaha 2100e a bit ago and the dam thin beeing onsecondary master ide, with hdd beeing de primary master ide and cdr the slave in primary ide still underruns me...
wuts up
DMA is disabled and i have been told that disabling NAI in Windows myght help
what do you guys think
Already tryed nero and ez cd creator, underruns only on the fly and more specially with audio cds
Onlymenotu Feb 22, 2002, 07:26 PM Greets :) More than likely it's your cdrom can't supply the DAE your burner needs try slowing the write speed down
FAQ...Hints, Tips and Terminology
========================
Common Terminology
========================
DAE = Digital Audio Extraction
This is the term that refers to how fast your CDROM or CDRW can process and extract audio. The faster the better, this is the most important factor for being able to copy Audio OTF.
The Minimum DAE of your CD-Rom determines how fast you can burn Audio OTF.
You will also need a small margin of overhead, a good rule of thumb is about 1 1/2 times the burn speed.
Some drives are much better at this than others and the Maximum x speed of the drive often has little to do with it!
Luckily there is a site with a comprensive listing of DAE Speed and many drives.
They also have a test application for Downloading in order to test your drive.
Go Here -> CD Speed
Buffer Underrun
This is one of the most common error's you will see.
And is caused when the CDR's buffer does not receive data fast enough from the source to maintain a steady uninterrupted burn.
If the Buffer's resources become to low, the burn will fail.
Solve this by slowing down the write speed and/or selecting the option to copy/image the data or music to your Hard Drive prior to burning.
Also close all applications that are running in the back round.
On the fly copies will result in errors and audio noise, skips, chirps, etc, much of the time due to Buffer Underuns. Unless you have a fast system and a CDROM with high DAE speed.
So, good rule of thumb, use your Hard Drive for imaging/copying most everything you urn. Learn more here -> Cyrus-troy's Buffer Underun

datman99 Feb 22, 2002, 09:06 PM Think I have a simple solution to this issue....
Just get Nero 5.5. The software has a "under run protection" built in to it and will prevent underruns of your burns no matter the format you burn in.
In other words, NO MORE COASTERS!!!:beer:

Did you know that the Yamaha 2100e doesnt have any buffer underrun feature ? So your simple solution is no longer simple unless you can add the feature to the writer :)
And reading it carefully, he also tried Nero too :)
MrMP Feb 22, 2002, 10:08 PM You Have Nero? Try nero cd speed ; this will test the max reading speed of your cd rom (for data and audio)
Flyer22 Feb 23, 2002, 05:46 AM Hey giys youīre right my LG drive isnīt capable of audio extraction more than 16x, that is underrun after underrun at 16x OTF recording.
I guess iīll have to get a faster cdr in order to take total use of this great (in my opinion) burner- to do know any capable of extracting at about 32x audio?.
CRW2100E doesnīt have underrun protection, but we "the burners" might add a little memory buffer using nero-UP TO 80 MEGS, try it, since using it made my burner able to do OTF burning at 12x. Thankx for the help
mjm Feb 23, 2002, 06:33 AM Actually mate, the "simplest" solution would be to not burn "on the fly",
use nero to make images to the hdd, and i would bet that you'd burn the cd 100% at 16x from the hdd...
Lazza Feb 23, 2002, 11:22 AM But of course if you want to burn On-The-Fly then you really need a CD-Rom drive that is better for DAE. Check out all the test results at:- http://www.cdspeed2000.com/go.php3?link=daeresults.php3
As you will see the LiteOn Ltd-163 or something similar could be just what you need.

You answered your own question... :round:
You state "DMA is DISabled".
It should be enabled for all drives that support it.
caseym Feb 23, 2002, 11:56 PM Flyer22,
With DMA enabled the audio extraction of the LG8160b is 32x average.
WindowsME
caseym Feb 23, 2002, 11:59 PM The LG6180b is not just a great burner, it is an FANTASTIC BURNER. have three at home and one at work. When I build systems this is the only 16x burner I fit.
Flyer22 Feb 24, 2002, 06:41 AM Hey people your messing my question out, i donīt have an LG burner, i only haven a 52xLG CDR, and a yamaha2100e CDRW, my trouble was that LDīs DAE is only 16x, which is very low for OTF at 16x with the 2100e, GET IT?
Iīm getting an ASUS cd-s520 which is 32x DAE capable, since it has twice the speed of the CDRW i hope OTF with audio stops beeing problematic..Thankx
