my cdrom drive stoped, the power light is on but it can't read the disk, i try to run sandra and it say that i have a dvd drive but it is not, yesterday the drive was ok.....
What went wrong here? I tryed to update driver but it say that it is using the best driver.
I really dont want to reinstall windows 98 because all the data will go.

by reinstalling windows you will not lose any data.you only lose data if you format 1st.but heres the prob. how you gonna reinstall if your cd dont work. have you tried your cdrom with a few other disc or are you trying one disc in paticular? it may be the disc is no good

Hi, now i format the harddisk and install windows 98 again, it still dont work. Yes I try some more cdrom's they are ok because i also try them in my other cdrom drive (the Tdk Burner), i run sandra and it say i have to put a dvd movie in the drive but it is not a dvd drive.... ????
I dont know what the cdrom drive is called so i cant go looking for a new driver?

by the way, i put the windows98 cd in my burner drive and install from there.
