my cdrom drive stoped, the power light is on but it can't read the disk, i try to run sandra and it say that i have a dvd drive but it is not, yesterday the drive was ok.....
What went wrong here? I tryed to update driver but it say that it is using the best driver.
I really dont want to reinstall windows 98 because all the data will go.

Greets:) Try this on your desktop right click my computer/properties/device manager(tab)/click on the plus sign next to the cdrom symbol/ then left click on cdrom/dvd player then click the remove tab then reboot the system and let it find the cdrom again!! :DOnlymenotu:D

I tryed that a few times, when the pc i restart it locate the cdrom in a few sec. werry fast but it is the wrong one ? Do u have another idea????

Greets :) Try removing what ever (ALL) that is listed under the cdrom icon then reboot and check it again!! Have you installed some software that creates a virtual drive('s) like Daemon Tools? You said it found the wrong 1 so i take it you have more than 1 cdrom/dvd/write installed in your system!
