Deforce Feb 26, 2002, 07:05 AM Hello,
i just purchased 100 kodak ultimas and i have found out to my horror that they will not accept safedisk 2 games, thus crashing when the copy loads.
This has happened on both of my cd-rw writters, although my verbtims successfully loads the copies, has any one got any suggestions to what is wrong
i have wasted nearly 14 disks trying to copy, should i throw them away and purchase some verbatims disks,
many thanks
ray-comp Feb 26, 2002, 08:47 AM I wont let on to be an expert here but as far as i can remember the laser cant read the kodaks very well because of its paticular layers which reflect on the laser, try turning the psx upside down when loading the game and see if that works, but by all accounts the best media for psx games is verbatham.

TOOL Feb 26, 2002, 10:08 AM Notice he is talking about computer game backups not playstation backups. Kodak is typically a good brand in my opinion. You can try changing media, however, have you been able to successfully copy Safedisc 2 game before? You may want to check and see if your drive is Safedisc 2 compatible. Also you may want to ask in the VGB forum, they will probably be able to set you straight.
Deforce Feb 26, 2002, 11:21 AM Thanks for your replies,
indeed i have copied safedisk 2 pc games on both of my cd-rw with the brands basf and verbatim,
The game in question is Allied Assult, which i have found to work with my verbs and not with my kodaks,
i am going to try me pineer cd-rs soon to see if these work with safedisk 2
this is puzzling as the kodaks were thought to be one of the best brands
ElaineM Feb 26, 2002, 11:25 AM I'm going to move this to the VGB forum for you.
Deforce Feb 26, 2002, 12:23 PM O great now my pineers do not work,
somethings wrong here my basf and verbs work, but not the kodak and pineers
celtic_druid Feb 26, 2002, 01:14 PM You probably have a drive that only does EFM ecoding partially correctly, with the new version of SD this can cause some problems, such as copies working on in some drives... I guess this is another one of those problems.

LOL LOL That was a good one. I have never used kodak or Pineer but you could use a cdr identifier to see if the recording layer is different on the brands that dont work
