 I have a toshiba dvd rom drive sdm 1612 and a sony crx 1611 writer. I am using clone cd ver 3.3.4.1. What i have read shows these are compatible drives with clone cd. these should work the only thing that i can not check is amplify weak sectors. My problem is that every disc that seems to have safedisc ver 1,2 i cannot get it to work i get (failure to read sector(####)). i have used clony xxl to try to help me but cannot seem to get any where suggestions or knowledge about clonecd or my drives would be a geat help. feeling very frustrated. operating sys win xp

You are supposed to get read errors, this is part of the protection.

He is right. You are SUPPOSED to get those errors. However, the Toshiba drives are the BEST at breezing through those errors. Also, the reason you cannot select the 'amplify weak sectors' option is because of the region you live in. Certain countries' laws prohibit the use of that feature.
I have heard that there is a way to defeat this by changing a value in the registry. I have not done this personally...

He is right! But I have you're solution, since I have been burning for several ages now! You have a new version of it. I suggest you get version 3.0 , it all function the same but you're region amplify weak sector hasn't taken its place and time yet ? If you know what I mean ;)
