I just installed a "new" RW drive today, it's a Ricoh RW7060A. I hooked it up and it worked fine for reading CDs, but when I tried to use Musicmatch to burn a music CD, it got about 7 minutes into burning it and then stopped, telling me I needed to try again at a lower write speed. I couldnt figure out how to erase the CD with 7 minutes of music (and the whole track list with their correct times and no music), so I tried another CD. I did the lower write speed, and after the exact same amount of time was recorded this CD popped out too, with the same error.

So I figured it was either Musicmatch or me needing a driver. I went looking for a driver, found 2 on www.driverguide.com (eventually). One of them didnt download, the other did. The one I did download told me, when I tried to install it, that it couldnt find WNASPI32.dll. After about an hour of searching for that online, I found TONS of dead links to download the file, and have yet to find it. Finally I saw this place and figured you guys could help out. What is wrong? Am I even going down the right path, and if so, where can I find WNASPI32?

Also, how do I wipe the 2 CDs with a tiny bit of information on them so I can write on them again? I imagine Ill run into that again in the future...

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated,
-Pek

Oh well. I guess the discs will make good frisbees.

I downloaded the newest driver for my system from that link and when I try to install it It tells me that it has received an illegal instruction (Close, Ignore). If I choose ignore, it receives another illegal instruction, and then another. At that point I decided to close it.

Any idea why, if it is harmful, if it would work if I ignored them all?

It sounds like you either don't have an ASPI layer installed or the ASPI is corrupted. Go here (http://www.chickensys.com/translator/misc/aspi.html) for a guide to installing an ASPI layer to a Win XP system.

What OS?

You may need to find Force ASPI not sure of link for this (maybe someone else can tell you)

If you fid it run dumpaspi.bat, reboot and try the the file you just got

The profile says 'WinXP', so forceASPI won't cut it which is why I've linked to a guide on how to install an ASPI to a winxp system.
