Have been mostly buying my backups because 1 it's easier, 2 more reliable and 3 my cd burner won't burn over 650MB, but wonder about using Mirc?

Went to a recommended PS2 channel and connected to an ftp site posted that had a decent list but it is a ratio type and is taking days of swapping files. It looks like it will take at least three days for each backup cd.

Wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on using Mirc?

NO1 TIP FOR MIRC:

Dont use it unless you are very patient!

Get into the NewsGroups, MUCHO easier! No swapping just D/L'ing!

My ISP always misses files in newsgroups. Just finished the last three days downloading SOE from a ftp and it was corrupt when using winiso to convert it to a iso file from a bin.

Thought some in the iso folder were saying MIRC was the best.

Will keep experimenting. Had three games coming in on direct connect but my son shut it down and now they won't resume.

Oh well will keep experimenting.

serve on mirc for awhile then get access to the dumps and never worry about looking for games again

If you're downloading from IRC channels then you're more likely to get a dead cd my friend ;) There is always at least one or more file missing ;)

But I don't recommend it or suggest to use it

Have been downloading using Edonkey and the files always seem to join together to form a bin file no problem.

Just did GTA 3 and it was 792MB as a bin file.

Guess I'll just have to look for a trusted seller again. Was buying from Stevenson but he retired. Then from Antone but he retired yesterday. Just when I was figuring out an order of Dvd's and cdr's mixed.

Have bought GTA 3 (never showed up here though) twice now and burnt it several times.

Last time I ordered it was from three different sellers and only Antone's order showed up.

Does Nero need any special settings burning a bin file I usually use raw and data 1 but have made coasters using other settings?

I know when reading a CD special settings are required but these are bin files already read.

Thanks for any ideas.

FTP stuff is usually in that nifty ISO folder right at the top of the forum. Do we need another topic?

i disagree, newsgroups stink, well at least my isp's newsgroups...so i guess it depends on your isp's newsgroups.

i use IRC channels....u have to wait to get games though...and since i have 1-way cable i cant really use ftp's since most are ratio..
