Hi I've just installed (well sort of!) my Pioneer AO3 and now my PC won't recognise the Pioneer writer as well as my DVD ROM drive
Don't know if I should be asking this sort of question in here but can anyone suggest anything that I might be doing wrong?!??!
Thanks

you need to explain everything thoroughly. What was in your pc before you put that in, what os do you have, what did you do, and what is happening now.

Yeah sorry...ok here goes (hopefully everything will sound ok as I'm not overly familiar with the inside workings of a PC!!
O/S - Windows ME
Before installation I had my Compaq DVD ROM along with an LG CDRW -
I took out the LG writer and replaced it with the Pioneer drive replacing the interface and power cables in exactly the same places as the LG drive.
Now my E (DVD ROM) and F (CD Writer) drives appear to have disappeared.
The Device Manager doesn't indicate that my PC even knows the drives are there
Hope the above makes sense...can anyone help???
P.S Both the drives seem to be powered up OK....
Thanks, Glenn :

No it doesn't seem to be - it appears to detect the DVD ROM drive though....

you definitely have a master slave issue. There are jumpers on the back of your drive. Sometimes on the drive themselves it tells you which pin is which. There are usually 3 choices and 4 jumpers. If it doesn't tell you what they are on the drive then check the manuals for both drives.
MA=Master
SL=Slave
CS=Cable select
Sometimes I have noticed that If I put one as master and one as slave it won't work properly still. Sometiems I have to put both of them to cable select.
Basically make sure one is master and the other is slave. If you try it and that doesn't work switch them around as far as which is master and which is slave, and if that doesn't work make them both cable select.
