First I have to say to my knowledge there is only 1 standalone dvd player that will play DVD-RAM disks. If you want to make backups of movies (unless you only want to watch them on your pc) you need to get DVD-R. Also you can't do PS2 on DVD-RAM. You need a DVD-R. Its a straight copy. For more info go ask on the ps2 newsboard.

Time it takes to burn a flick really depends on a lot of factors. IT can take me between 1 hour and 9 hours. There are way to many factors to get into. If you really want to know more take a look at the newbie guide.

I believe you cannot do a straight copy from the actual DVD movies to DVDR. First, usually the movies are bigger than 4.7 GB that a DVDR can hold. Second, there is some kind of writing method I dont know, i just read abt it and cant understand yet. SOmething like the DVD's use 9 and actualy DVD writers can only do 5. I am not sure what this number stands for,.

Hi mate most dvd films are dvd 9 (about 8.5gb) these will not fit on dvdr (typically 4.7 actually about 4.35gb) most films are available on dvd silvers in a dvd 5 format these will fit on a dvdr and usually contain no copy protection (unlike normal dvd films) to copy dvd silvers is a straight disk to disk copy which takes between 1-2 hours. with standard dvd films you need to rip them to a hard disk first then mess about a bit then write them. i can recomend nero for straight disk to disk copys (latest version 5.5 only!) Also you really do need a dvd R?rw like the Pioneer A03 (about £350) not a dvd ram as there is huge compatablity probs with dvd ram dvd r media is cheaper also (from about £2.00 each)
Hope this helps!
