Both my DVD and CDRW drives have started putting cracks and rythmic pops in the audio of any CD's or DVD's that I play. I started uploading my CD collection to my computer and things were going well for the first 20 or so CD's. Then they just started dirtying up the playback. The recording quality is not affected because it plays back cleanly from my hardrive which leads me to believe the soundcard (Philips) is okay. Why would both drives suddenly develop this problem? I am running XP with a 1.4 Athlon CPU and 512mb RAM.

Are you talking about CD's and DVD's that you make or any cd or dvd's that you buy?

It could be a problem with dma not being enabled.

You are new here, but just for reference, posting the same question in multiple forums will not get your question answered quicker, it will just get your posts closed and you banned if you keep doing it..

Just post in one forum.
