hi to all who look in,
here's the prob,
i have just got a playstation 1 boot disk, put it into the ps1,
then on screen says...INSERT FORMAT DISK,
i put in a backup but nothing happens,am i doing something wrong or
i thought that maybe these boot disks only work on the old playstations
and not in the newest vers ps1,
if anyone has any ideas i would appreciate knowing,
cheers,
stationation.

What kind of disc is it exactly ps-x-change or something else? Are you sure you installed the card correctly? Where did you get the disc from?

hi Nate,
i got the disk today at a computer show it's just a cd with playstation boot disk on the label,
i dont think it's a rip coz this guy is always at all the pc shows,
and he guarenteed me it worked !
he had dreamcast ones too.

I hate to tell you this, but I think you got ripped off.:( PSX discs have 'bad' sectors on them that can't be read by a conventional drive, that's why we need a mod of some kind. It's not like dreamcast bootdiscs, which can be burnt onto a CDR and used, you have to buy an original psx boot disc. There's several different kinds floating around, but the only one that's been proven to work correctly is the ps-x-change. Unfortunately, guarantee's don't seem to be worth as much as they were before.
