Yup, another music changing question. I saw some posts like this before in the old board, its just that I never paid attention to them. Well.. yeah... how do you change the music in MvC2.. I read some faqs on the topic of music changing, just that there arent any adx files i can find on the cd. any help would be cool enough for me.

Thanks grimdeath. Well I found the music files started with"Adx_***.bin" I used stuff from go.to/selfboot to extract, convert, wav files,loop adx... etc. etc. Now I'm having trouble burning the stuff back together. Heres what I did: I used isobuster to put all the files together in on my hd. Then I replaced the bin files with my music (with the same file name of course). Now I'm wondering what to use to recompile it back into a single image. Can I use nero or cdrwin to do this?

Wow... 6 coasters and counting. Well.. I was trying Nero to reburn the files back together, using the CDROM udf/iso type. It burns. I load up the boot disk, put in the game, it loads a usual seeing the mvc2 cd cover rotate. Then the screen goes black for about 10 sec then goes to the dreamcast menu. What am I doing wrong?

Alright, I gave up trying to change the music extracted from my US self-boot version. So I turned to my boot-disk Jap version. Used Isobuster to extract the files. Converted about 20 of my mp3s to wav to adx using stuff found at http://go.to/selfboot .They have a tutorial there on how to loop it so I won't repeat it. Well, after changing the mp3s to looping adxs i renamed them according to what I wanted.
Here were the things I found out. (If it helps anyone...)

Continue Screen == Adx_cont.bin
MvC2 Menu == Adx_menu.bin
Intro Song == Adx_open.bin
Character Select == Adx_selc.bin
Ending Song (Staff Credits) == Adx_staf.bin
Win/score screen == Adx_wins.bin
Training Stage == Adx_s0b0.bin
Abyss 1 == Adx_s080.bin
Abyss 2 == Adx_s090.bin
Abyss 3 == Adx_s0a0.bin

Adx_s000.bin to Adx_s060.bin are the stages.. I dont remember which file goes with which stage.

After replacing the files I used the Nero CDROM udf/iso mode, burnt it. Loaded up the boot disk, put in the game and there i was ..hearing the music after 7 trials. Too bad the bin2boot doesnt work with this, for me at least. So yeah I just wanted to share my experience now. heh. My lingering questions are.. how come that way didnt work with an image of my self-bootable US version. Does this method only work with boot-disk games? Or is there a way around it.

Hello :), I have My own collection that I've personally done. I have about 6 different MvC2 Remixes done. Also I've done CvS2 Remixes. They contain Hip-Hop, Rap, Rock, R&B. All r pretty good. I'm also putting Movie Soundracks there 2. All r selfBoot & they loop.

u can learn something from everybody :).

Its pretty much the same way to do CvS2 right? But everytime i tried to use the files extracted from a self booted game then change the music.. it didnt work.. so i what i did was find someone with the game the needed the boot disk.. and that work. Im wondering how to change the music when the game is already self boot. Sorry if its not in detail.. i can't really explain it.. Ill try to change the music in CvS2(self-boot) and see if that works.

in my game disks, i found files like this: adx_***.bin, what prog i use?
adx2wav only process *.adx files

joaoviss
Mar 28, 2002, 12:01 PM
ok! i got saturn cinepack that converts adx_***.bin to *.wav.
i modify the wav, but how to change back to adx_***.bin?
i apreciate your patience with me

joaoviss
Mar 28, 2002, 12:42 PM
here's what i got:
wav2adx.exe - reverts wav to adx
i renamed *.adx to adx_***.bin and it works in cinepack
but the sound quality is very low
what i do now?

Rudeshadow
Mar 28, 2002, 04:20 PM
are you asking about the sound quality or how to burn them now?
if its the sound quality then try using sound recorder before converting the wav to adx. then renaming.. like saving the sound quality higher or something..
if its about burning the stuff back together then i have one question before you do that.. did you get the files from a self-boot or a boot disk version of the game? cuz if ya got the files from a self-boot ver. then ya gotta mess wid the 1st_read.bin hex editing.. if not then just follow the rest of the intructions that are up in previous posts..
i hope that makes sense...

i'm new too, and i'm trying to make cap vs snk 2 wi/ new music too, and so far i've make it from a self boot to a boot disc required. i have music that i want to put in as adx***.bin's, but i don't have a program to get my wav's to adx to bin. also i want to know how to loop these songs since that go.to/selfboot place is down. so could someone please put up a link to a place to get a converter and how to make songs loop? thanks a lot to anyone who replies, i really appreciate it.

Mar 30, 2002, 11:20 AM
ok you must find adxencd.exe, to convert wav 2 adx, try search in google.
but when i change my wave in adx, the sound quality drops, i want to know what setings i must do in adxencd, and how to loop them.
the custom adx must be the same size of the original adx?
please, only want make adx with the same quality of the wave to reach my goal :)

KnightRidah67
Mar 30, 2002, 07:28 PM
so far i've changed all wav's into adx's using adxencd. from here i tried to just rename them into .bin's, replace the old ones, then burn. Unfortunately, the new music that i'm using is too big. I found that I have to change the .adx's into .afs's so i can make those smaller. When the .afs's are smaller, I can then change them back to .adx's to .bin then to (finally) burn. Just one problem. I don't have a program to change .adx's to .afs's. I believe the program to use is called afslnk. I've looked everywhere, but all the links are down. So can somebody please find me a way to make my files small enough to burn? That's all I need to reach my goal.

hey knghtridah67!
ur custom adx have sound quality smaler than the original wave?
i don't get to adjust adxencd to make adx equal to wav

KnightRidah67
Mar 30, 2002, 11:18 PM
yeah, i noticed that too. i'll probably just edit the wave and see if i can make it really loud to compensate for that sound change.

Mar 30, 2002, 11:53 PM
So far I've burned one test, and it seemed to work. The only bugs that I need to work out are making the music loop, and making it louder. Also, I threw out lots of other songs on the game since my music was too big. So if anyone, anyone at all can send me a converter that makes things into .afs, I'd be able to fix all these problems. So please, if anybody at all has a tool that can do this, e-mail or post it up! Thanks

Using Adxencd heres how to loop adx files:
open a dos window.
change the directory where the program is, make sure the wav file you want to convert into adx is in the same folder.
example:
C:\*directory*\adxencd <wave filename>

In my case the directory was called ADX and the wav filename was 001.

you should see something like this:
C:\ADX>adxencd 001
|||||||||||| ADX Audio decompression tool Ver.4.61 ||||||||||
Software Audio Encoder for "CRI ADX FreeWare " 1999-07-16
1996-1999 CRI

Input sound data file: '001.wav'
ADX Compressed data file : '001.adx'
Sampling frequency : 44100 Hz = Input sound data
No. of channels : 2
Input audio sample : 9775872 smpl = 221.0 sec <44100 Hz>
ADX output sample : 9775872 smpl(Blk:9775872 smpl) = 221.0 sec <44100 Hz>

remember the sample number in this case it would be 9775872

after that run the command
adxencd <wave file> -lps0 -lpe<sample number>

example:
C:\ADX>adxencd 001 -lps0 -lpe9775872

thats all... hope that clears things
==================================================

aoubt that low quality sound. Im not sure.. my music came out fine.

ok, i've got all this done, but when i try to put all the stuff back together using nero to make an image, it says that its too big. So did the new music files have to be just as long as the originals, or is there a way to compress the music so it doesn't take as much space? Thanks for the looping steps.

hey knight ridah, i think ur supposed to use CDRwin to burn ur game

KnightRidah67
Apr 11, 2002, 11:50 PM
ok, i got cdrwin, made all my songs loopable and the game needs a boot disk. i made an image with cdrwin, and tried burning it making it a CDI cd on the selection, but whenever i put it in my dc after the boot disk, i see the same thing and hear some odd noises from the dc. the game never loads up. is there a certain way to burn a game on cdrwin or is there another program? i tried discjuggler, but its too big and overburn didn't work. help me please, i'm so close to finishing this!

I used the Nero CDROM udf/iso mode... thats makes it use the boot disk.. so burn it with a cd-rw then copy it into a bin/cue file and use the self-boot proggy on it.

KnightRidah67
Apr 13, 2002, 07:01 PM
ok, here's my problem in detail. i changed the music and everything and made the .iso w/ cdrwin. i try to burn it using cdrwin and select CDI format, but when i finish there's an error. i put it in my dc after the boot disk, and nothing happens. I put it into the computer and it reads nothing. how the heck am i supposed to burn it? rudeshadow, you seem to know a way to fix this, but can you elaborate more on what to do? i didn't understand your help . . .
